Pictures

Contained within this page is basically every single picture that I've ever taken up to 19/8/2003, and thought was sufficiently interesting to share with other people. Nowadays my photos can all be found at my Flickr.

One thing I would be extremely grateful for would be for people to email me on maria at cats dot meow dot at with a list of the ten images that they feel are the best or the nicest, or just that they like the most. You don't have to be a great art critique, just pick the ones you would hang on your wall :). Thankyou to those that have already done this.

The pictures are all copywritten, of course, but available under a free license, but almost all of the images have a high resolution original available. I'm willing to give the hi-res images away on an individual basis, but not for commercial use. I can also do prints of the originals onto real photographic paper at a local lab that I have a good relationship with, and lets me control the final print and quality myself. Large prints are of course quite expensive, due to the processes involved, but some of them can make very stunning pieces to hang on the wall. They can also be poster-printed up to quite large sizes, but A3 is about the maximum possible size before pixels start to become visible under a magnifying glass.

DateSampleDescription
2003-08-19A little bimble at lunchtime produced some interesting images. There're some great macro shots of insects in here, and a few other random ones too.

Regents
Park
Some pictures from a small trip into Regents Park, London. Lots of flappy things that swim around on wet stuff :)
2003-08-18
London
Eye
Some more pictures from the same trip as Regents Park. This time they're pictures I took of, around, and on the London Eye. I'm afraid that the pictures I took really don't do this amazing piece of engineering and architecture justice, but I think they still look really nice.

Misc
Pics
This is for more pictures from the trip to London from the above two image libraries, but that didn't really fit into either category, so here they are presented for your viewing pleasure!
2003-08-07Actually a collection of misc shots taken on three nights, including the previous night, and the night I took the Iridium Flare pictures.
2003-08-04Just misc pictures from wandering around, also including the last ever picture of Nokia :(
2003-07-28Shots taken around and about Watermead and the lake at night, lots of sodium glare in the sky of course, the moon, and even a shot of the ISS going over.
2003-07-27More assorted shots here, including some from walking around at lunchtime, some interesting textures, and the results of that morning's sunrise.
2003-07-16Two flares from antennae attached to satellites in the Iridium satcom constellation, also includes VERY BIG versions of the same. (people still using modems have been warned!)
2003-06-24The results of a nice little lunchtime walk, quite a few macro shots, some cows, and most importantly - electricity pylons!
2003-06-17Damselflies. Really really close up damselflies in actual fact. Did you know they have little hairs on their legs? I do now :)
2003-05-28Some pictures of my bike, and a cat that seems to hang around the local area and was napping on the drive at the time.
2003-04-22Close up pictures of the insides of one of my SGI machines.
2003-02-15Fairly random things here, actually. Things that were around at the time and I thought looked interesting, there's a couple of landscapes, some expanded blutac, and an SGI breaker with the knob snapped off
2003-01-23Random stuff! There's a couple of pictures of a cat, Peter's knob, Peter himself, cuddly toys, some shots from outside, and some beautiful nighttime shots taken from the top of a hill near Aylesbury
2003-01-12The results of a little trip to Whipsnade wild animal park. Pengiuns, other birds, cats, and misc animals abound. Also here is a long distance shot of what looks like a real life Eeyore
2002-11-12The last set of pictures I ever took with my old camera. Not really possible to classify, but there are some pictures of a local cat that seems to be a sort of reverse Houdini, and gets inside the house somehow. I've dubbed the cat "Nokia" at the suggestion of a friend, because when it meows it sounds more like a beep. One of the pictures is when I came downstairs to find that not only was the cat inside, but it was curled up inside a coil of cat5 ... awww. There's also a couple of nice night time shots of Canary Wharf here.
2002-10-22Out and About with the camera now. Some nice sunsets at Brighton I think, a couple of "arty" shots, and some more of the cat. I swear the cat thinks it owns either us or the house, the way it lays around. I am actually a little worried about it, cos the way it walks around the place makes me think it might have lived here before, and got left behind or something, but I'm not entirely sure what to do about it.
2002-08-31Lots of things mixed in here, some pictures from a walk, a "chilli-non-carne", and the cat I dubbed Nokia before it had figured out how to get into the house. How can such an independent animal look so pathetic?
2002-08-27This is actually my first outing with an SLR camera. Not bad a suppose, and it demonstrates how far I've come on recently :)
2002-08-19Random snapshots, the first set I ever bothered to scan and publish!
